China has reaffirmed its support for Sierra Leone and two other African countries dealing with widespread Ebola infection, according to a report by the Want China Times.
President Xi Jinping met with Sierra Leone President Ernest Bai Koroma in New York on Sunday, pledging China's aid in the form of economic and social reconstruction.
After the Ebola outbreak last year, China was one of the countries that responded immediately, sending emergency medical support, according to President Koroma.
President Xi revealed that his country will enhance medical and healthcare cooperation with Sierra Leone by improving the latter's public health prevention and control system. The initiative will include the establishment of a research center and teams of medical workers to be sent across the country.
The WCT report also said that cooperation between the countries does not stop there, as China also seeks to aid the African country in establishing an independent industrial system for sustainable development that will expand technological training and expedite infrastructure development.
China will also extend its support in the field of agriculture and fishery, which will provide an effective food security system and increase agricultural income and payment.
The development comes a few months before the China-Africa Cooperation Forum Summit that will be held in South Africa in the early part of December. President Xi is optimistic that the meeting will be a success in forging fruitful ties with African nations.
