The 2015 Beijing Design Week (BJDW) is once again providing an opportunity for exchanges and trade between domestic and international design industries.

Themed "City of Design, Smart City, Industrial Integration," this year's BDW kicked off with an international trade fair for the design sector at Beijing Tianzhu Free Trade Zone on Sept. 23 and runs until Oct. 7.

The fair showcases more than 10,000 products from famous brands coming from various countries, such as the United States, Italy, France, Spain, Japan, South Korea and Turkey.

The wide-ranging products include food, handicrafts, ceramics, jewelry and garments.

The BJDW will also showcase products from over 30 design industrial clusters from Beijing, Tianjin Municipality and Hebei Province.

It also brings together the visions of more than a hundred Chinese and foreign architects in its "Beyond Architecture" exhibit.

As the title suggests, these exhibits showcase works of architects other than architecture and allow young architects to fully showcase their creativity.

The exhibit has toured major cities around China and Europe, such as Chengdu, Shanghai, Venice and London.

Alongside it is another exhibit by architects showcasing achievements in Chinese urban construction in the past 10 years.

Entitled "One Magazine, 10 Years, 100 Architects," this exhibit of Urban Environment Design also highlights the importance of creating a sustainable environment.

The exhibitions show the importance of architecture not only in changing the look and character of a city, but also in influencing people's way of life.

Since 2011, the event has brought in $3.6 billion in trade turnover.
