Sony has announced that new system software update for the PlayStation 4 will roll out and be available on Sept. 30, which is called Firmware 3.00.

The update is also known as codenamed Kenshin, and launches a significant number of UI enhancements, a suite of social improvements, and brand-new features to the PS4 dashboard. It is considered as one of the biggest software updates to the gaming console till date. Sony said that the update is designed to make new ways to connect with friends and other players around the globe, broadening the social capabilities of the gaming console, Gamespot reported.

The following features are added to the update:

PS Plus program - This has been added to the home screen for easier checking and downloading of free monthly game. The online storage for PS4 was increased to 10GB. The section also offers promotions to players.

Video clips sharing on Twitter - Gamers are now allowed to share video clips to Twitter. Length of a video must not exceed 10 seconds.

YouTube live - Players are able to live-stream directly from PS4 to YouTube. They just need to click the new icon for YouTube on the Broadcast Gameplay Screen.

PNG Screenshots - Players can also save screenshots in the higher-resolution PNG format. Just press Share > Share Settings > Screenshot Settings > Image Format.

Events - Players will be able to see an overview of activities taking place in the games they play most of the time.

Communities: They can also join communities based on the shared games and genres. The goal is to keep the players updated on the hottest gaming trends. It has a message board with general discussion, screenshots shared by players, and the ability to join parties.

Favorite Groups - It makes chat exchanges easier between game who often play together and keep updated on their PlayStation activity.

Stickers - The update features stickers themed based on "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End," "Knack," "LittleBigPlanet 3," "Resogun," and more. Instead of sending a message, a sticker will do.

However, it is most likely that Sony will not be releasing a successor for PlayStation Vita because of the popularity of smartphone gaming, according to IGN.
