New details for the "Power Rangers" reboot film have been revealed regarding its plot details and short list of possible cast members.

Lionsgate and Saban revealed several actors to be cast in the "Power Rangers" reboot film. The reboot will follow the plot from the "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers" TV series as Jason, Kimberly, Trini, Billy and Zack are the main characters within the film, Variety reported.

Several teen actors have been named to play the roles of Jason, Kimberly and Zack in the "Power Rangers". For Jason, "Disney Decendant" star Mitchell Hope is currently in the lead to play the Red Rangers followed by "Shortland Street" actor K.J. Apa and "Arrow" gues star Austin Butler.

Fan favorite Pink Ranger Kimberly in the film could be played by "Terra Nova's" Naiomi Scott, "Carrie Diaries" star AnnaSophia Robb and former Disney TV actress Stephanie Scott.

Lastly, the Black Ranger Zack could be played "It Follows" star Daniel Zovatto, actor/rapper Brian "Sene" Marc and "Chasing Life" star Ross Butler.

Lionsgate and Saban are currently seeking potential actors to play both Trini and Billy in the film. Lionsgate stated several description for each character in the film with Jason being a former high school star who has lost his way and will lead the team as way of redeeming himself. Kimberly will be popular student who has mysteriosly absent for six months, while Zack is the fun loving character full of confidence and bravado, but has deep insecurities. Trini is the "new kid" in town and Billy is a genius, but socally awkward teenager.

In other news, veteran "Power Rangers" actor Jason David Frank stated in an interview that he will likely be involved in "Power Rangers" reboot film as both Lionsgate and Saban came to him first for the offer, Realty Today reported. Frank stated that he does not know much about his possible part in film, but he will be fine to have a cameo or short role within the project

Frank in the film is said to be a former Power Ranger who will train the new generation of Rangers under orders from Zordon.

Before Lionsgate and Saban's announcement of possible cast list, several rumored cast members in "Power Ranger" reboot includes Liam Hemsworth, Chloe Grace Moretz, Michael B. Jordan, Jamie Chung and Roshon Feegan as the main Power Rangers, while a second batch features Brenda Song, Donald Glover and Jamie Bell.

Liam Neeson is rumored to play Zordon, while Meryl Streep, Michael Fassbender and Tom Hardy will play villains, Rita Repulsa, Lord Zedd and Goldar.

"Power Rangers" reboot is scheduled to launch in cinemas on Jan. 13, 2017.
