The Chinese company DJI launched the Osmo 4K steadicam on October 8, Thursday.

DJI is already a top manufacturer of unmanned flying vehicles and aerial photography systems.  It used its technical expertise to produce its state-of-the-art steady camera.

Osmo includes DJI's innovative 3-axis gimbal stabilization tech to keep devices horizontal. Its game-changing technology is already featured on the company's Phantom drones.

The gimbal technology will prevent blurry aerial photos. That is often the result when using handheld action cameras such as a GoPro, according to The Market Business. This feature will help to ensure that selfie shots and travel videos are shake-free and crystal clear.

Osmo is a 12 megapixel (MP) camera that will shoot videos and photos in 4K resolution (400 percent clearer than Full HD), which results in crisp details, rich colors, and perfect lighting.  The unit also includes a 1/2.3-inch sensor.

Users press down the trigger button to set the Osmo camera's focus. They also triple-tap it to make it whirl around to snap a selfie photograph, according to Tech Times.

Osmo makes taking panoramic photos a piece of cake. Users just hold up the unit above their heads and then press the shutter button, causing the camera to remain totally level as it snaps pictures.

DJI's new camera is bundled with a mobile phone holder. It is attached to the gimbal's handle for taking panoramic, slow-motion, and long-exposure shots.

Users can use Apple smartphones to command their camera via the DJI Go iOS app. In addition, an attachment allows them to view their camera through a Wi-Fi video link.

Osmo is compatible with accessories such as bike mounts and tripods. Other available accessories include a mount for a LED light or microphone.

The DJI Osmo has a price tag of $650. It will ship starting October 15, Thursday.
