New Liverpool chief Jürgen Klopp is reportedly keen on acquiring Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski soonest as the first step in his quest to make the Reds relevant to the Premier League once again.

Fox Sports indicated that the 48-year-old German manager is "confident" that the Anfield giants can pull off the signing of his former Borussia Dortmund player sooner or later. Some reports have also revealed that Klopp is eyeing two unnamed goalkeepers to possibly replace Simon Mignolet in the Reds' starting lineup.

It was also reported that Liverpool is preparing a £40-million offer to the Bavarians to lure the 27-year-old Polish scorer this January when the winter window opens or next summer.

Klopp brought in Lewandowski from Ekstraklasa's Lech Poznań in 2010 and had played a major role in Die Borussen's resurgence this decade. The Poland international was a goal-scoring machine for Dortmund, scoring a total of 103 goals in 186 appearances in all competitions for the North Rhine-Westphalia club.

Bleacher Report noted that Klopp and Liverpool were not the only ones interested in getting the striker's services. La Liga giants FC Barcelona and Real Madrid were also said to be planning a serious bid for Lewandowski come January.

However, the report also said that the probability of the Bayern standout leaving Allianz Arena soon is quite low as of the moment. Der FCB is reportedly adamant in keeping the center forward for as long as they can as he is one of the best scorers in the Bundesliga thus far and one of the main reasons why Pep Guardiola's squad is still undefeated after eight games.

Lewandowski's agent hinted of a future transfer, but it will not happen soon.
