Microsoft Hololens will first arrive to the developers in the U.S. and Canada. This was announced by Microsoft, a few days ago, so as to give the developers the time to prepare their applications for it, which by the way will not be for free.
The Microsoft Hololens offers a great potential and Microsoft's move to offer it to developers first can really put it into good use. It seems to have a superb build quality and is very easy to operate. The learning process on how to use it seems very minimal. Simply put it on and adjust the strap, according to Tech Radar.
Majority of the applications for the Redmond tech giant's Hololens is still under development. For the demo, the Xbox One with "Halo 5: Guardians" was used and it provided a great holographic experience. The device provided an excellent result, both for the eyes and ears. The potential in the gaming arena was clearly seen in the demonstration provided by Microsoft.
Price wise, it is a little steep against its current competitors. Developers need to shell out $3,000 a piece and is only allowed to have a maximum of two Hololenses. The Oculus Rift is being offered at $350 while HTC offers its Vive device to developers free of charge.
Microsoft Hololens hardware specifications are a well-kept secret at the moment. Basing on the demo unit itself, the visor's eyepiece is a "see-through holographic HD lenses," and the final product can either be 1080p or a 720p resolution.
There is also the probability that it may have a 4K display. However, Microsoft did not mention anything during the presentation, Alphr reported.
Microsoft is also planning to highlight their augmented reality (AR) device in Seattle, San Francisco and Austin, to convince developers to jump into the bandwagon.
