Thanks to the successful run of the latest "Boruto: Naruto The Movie," there are speculations that it will become a serialized manga with Naruto's son being the main protagonist.
The movie graced the Japanese theaters on Aug. 7 and just weeks since its first screening the film reportedly rake in a total of 2.02 billion yen (approximately $16.8 million) as of Aug. 25.
The film's US release coincided with the New York Comic Con as well as Naruto's birthday on Oct. 10. Also, Naruto creator Masashi Kishimoto graced the said event for a meet-and-greet session. The movie raked in a total of $5.46 million only three days after it was released in theaters.
Fans believed that the movie revitalized the popular Naruto franchise and it is only natural that they will clamor for more manga updates.
According to Anime New Network, after the over a decade run of Naruto manga, Kishimoto is considering a new serialized sci-fi manga. However, he did not release further information about the upcoming series.
"I've already finalized the character designs. I think the protagonist is one that hasn't been seen before in manga, and while it's me saying it, I think that the character is done very well," he told the publication.
The "mangaka" does not feel the same way as the fans as he revealed that he is not planning to write and draw another Naruto movie or series in the near future.
The "Naruto" manga series has become the iconic work of Kishimoto that lasted for 15 years. The work has been adapted into an anime that has become immensely popular internationally.
