Xin said that the school is a vital project which the Chinese government is giving its full support to.

"It is another symbol of the all-weather friendship between China and Namibia. I hope that this school can definitely benefit Namibian children, the construction can bring more employment to the local people, and more projects about education can be promoted and implemented," said the official.

The Chinese government gave Namibia's Ministry of Education a grant to build and develop the state-of-the art Otjomuise Vision School.

"The grant . . . allocated towards the development of this vision school is considered as one of the largest ever Chinese grants for Namibia's formal education fraternity," said David Namwandi, minister of education.

The institution, planned to have a capacity of 800 learners, will accept students from Grades 8 through 12.

In addition to classrooms, the vision school will have sports facilities, a multipurpose hall, a caretaker's house, a three-story hostel, supervisory teachers' housing, laboratories, specialized classrooms, an athletics track on the premises and a pavilion.
