Within hours after "Halo 5: Guardians" release, the Internet is already full of game reviews highlighting the pros and cons of the game. The most dominant critique is its weak storyline, or lack thereof, which is redeemed by its excellent multiplayer mode.

Initial review of the "Halo 5: Guardians" praised the game's multiplayer mode. The "Halo" franchise is well-known for its player-vs-player components and the latest addition is no exception. First is the Arena, which is a small-team-based skirmish mode. It contains popular multiplayer elements such as capture the flag which ensure fast action gunfights.

Warzone is the newest and probably biggest addition to the "Halo 5" gameplay. It is a MOBA-inspired game which puts a team, composed of 12 players each, against each other. It features huge maps and challenges players to capture certain control points in order to destroy the opposing team's core or simply just to outscore them. At the same time, AI enemies also spawn on the map which can creates both the opportunity to score points or wreak havoc on each team's side.

"Halo 5: Guardians" is the eighth "Halo" title to come out under 343 Industries. It serves as a direct sequel to "Halo 4" which was released for the Xbox 360. Despite this, the newest "Halo" game still has a lot of unanswered questions and left adamant gamers hanging in the air even after the credits roll.

According to Forbes, the story is a bit confusing. The campaign "Halo 5: Guardians" picks up after the events of "Halo 4." The Blue Team led by the series' protagonist Master Chief is in pursuit of Cortana. On the other hand, Fireteam Osiris is at its tail trying to catch Master Chief while putting together several pieces of the puzzle.

According to Digital Trends, the lack of in-depth storyline in "Halo 5: Guardians" could mean that the franchise is gearing up for an explosive follow-up with "Halo 6."
