Upon its announcement, the Surface Pro 4 and the Surface Book has been widely held to rival their Apple counterparts, specifically the iPad Pro and the MacBook Pro, respectively.

A quick look at the specs of Microsoft's flagship devices and one can tell that it might have the proper hardware and software brawns needed to topple Apple's flagship devices.

The Surface Pro 4 is among the thinnest and most powerful tablets that are currently available in the market. It is available in three variants depending on the processor on-board. One can choose between the sixth-generation Intel Core M, Intel Core i5 or Intel Core i7 processors. Despite its upgraded hardware, Microsoft was able to squeeze everything into an 8.4mm device. It also runs very quiet and cooler compared to its predecessor, the Surface Pro 3. The Surface Pro 4 sports a 12.3-inch display screen with PixelSense technology.

The Surface Book is something of a eureka moment for Microsoft fans. Experts believe that Microsoft may have finally solved the puzzle of creating its very own laptop.

The Surface Book has a 13.5-inch display with six million pixels. According to the official Window blog, this easily beats the 13.3-inch MacBook Pro display with two million pixels. The Surface Book is available in two processor variants; an Intel Core i5 or Intel Core i7, both sixth-generation. Both models feature an Intel HD graphics card and storage option of up to 1TB. For those aiming to use the Surface Book as a gaming machine, the Nvidia GeForce GPU upgrade can pretty much handle latest video game titles in mid to high settings.

According to BGR, the standard model of the Surface Pro 4 will fetch a price tag of $899 while the standard model of the Surface Book starts at $1,499.
