The sequel to the  spy film "Kingsman: The Secret Service" will be up against "World War Z 2" if producers stick to its June 16, 2017 release date.

Producers have confirmed the return of British actor Taron Egerton, who played Gary "Eggsy" Unwin.  Egerton has been busy the past several months filming "Eddie The Eagle," a biopic about the Olympic ski-jumper which has an April 2016 United Kingdom release date.

Egerton is striking while the iron is hot and will also film  "Robin Hood: Origins." The movie was moved back a little to allow Egerton to finish the "Kingsman" sequel first.

Director Matthew Vaughn will once again be at the helm of the spy film sequel. Some of Vaughn's best films were "X-Men: First Class," and "Stardust."

Though viewers saw the character of  Colin Firth, Harry Hart, bite the dust in the first film, they just may see the English actor again in Kingsman 2. Vaughn disclosed plans for the possible return of Firth, USA Today reported.

Egerton, Firth and Vaughn, along with a competent supporting cast, provide enough bullets for another box-office hit.

Kingsman 2 will be up against several highly touted films, including the sequel to the 2013 American apocalyptic action horror film "World War Z.

The sequel of the Brad Pitt movie that became a global hit has a June 2017 release date, Deadline reported.  Also joining the action film slugfest is Warner Bros' "Wonder Woman."

Indeed, mid-2017 is shaping out to be exciting time highlighted by film sequels with mainstream appeal that feature gritty lead characters.
