China announced that it will be launching 120 satellites into space to reach the country's goals in navigation, space infrastructure and communication.
Deputy General Manager Yang Baohua from China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation said that they will be putting more effort in constructing China's space infrastructure that is self-controlled and is continuously operational for an indefinite amount of time without losing its stability.
Yang did not give specific details and dates related to the satellite project.
The People's Republic of China will be launching about 70 remote-sensing satellites which have the capability to forecast extreme upcoming events and detect changes within the near-earth space environment.
In addition, about 20 satellites will be launched to support its growing communication, public services and national security sectors.
Around 30 navigation satellites will also be launched to deliver precise and accurate navigation services and global positioning data, according to a report from Xinhua, China's official news agency.
During an international aerospace and aviation symposium, Airshow China, held in Zhuhai City in south China, Yang said that the economy of the country will be observing continued growth that would lead to more innovations in aerospace in the future.
Airshow China is the only aerospace-related forum endorsed by the Chinese government. The convention features discussions and exchanges in aerospace technology. The forum will run from Nov. 11 to 16.
