Ben Affleck's forthcoming untitled solo "Batman" film is set to debut a pivotal character.
According to JoBlo, Affleck's upcoming "Batman" film will introduce The Red Hood in DC's Cinematic Universe. Originally known as Jason Todd, the character was murdered by The Joker in Jim Starlin and Jim Aparo's 1988 "A Death In The Family" story arc. Todd was then brought back to life through a Lazarus Pit, bearing the new identity The Red Hood.
Also known as an anti-hero, vigilante, and crime boss, The Red Hood has become a key character in the comic books and a rogue member of the Bat family.
According to Latino Review, The Red Hood would play a major role in the solo "Batman" film. The publication mentioned that he would adapt the story line of the "A Death In The Family" and "Under the Hood" in the comic books. More than that, The Red Hood is set to be the DC counterpart of Marvel's The Winter Soldier, with the premise of "sidekicks gone evil, seeking a chance at redemption."
Meanwhile, Batman is set to be seen next in Zack Snyder's "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice," which serves as the path to the rise of the superhero team Justice League. Aside from Affleck, the film also stars Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, Jason Momoa, Ezra Miller, Ray Fisher, Jesse Eisenberg, and Amy Adams, among others.
Snyder's "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" is set to be aired in two separate teasers on Oct. 26 while the film is slated to premiere in theaters in the United States on Mar. 25, 2016. Meanwhile, the release date for Affleck's untitled "Batman" reboot is yet to be revealed.
