One typical problem that most iPhone users are complaining is the way its screens easily crack if dropped. This is quite an issue because dropping an iPhone may result to broken screen and shattered dreams. However, Apple has been able to create retractable bumpers that will immediately activate the moment it senses a fall.

This latest technology of screen protector, the Active Screen Protection for Electronic Device, may prove as the smartphone's shock absorber that will protect it from unforeseen damages. The device consists of bumpers with sensors that determine if a phone is actually free falling to the ground, IBtimes reported.

These tabs or bumpers, as termed in its patent application, are being powered by a single motor or more which will extend and retract if the on board sensors of a smartphone sense a drop. It further explains the way the retractable tabs could be created from the polymers, rigid plastics and thin metals, to be fitted within the structure of the phone.

Hot Apple News reported, the pictures indicate the use of motors that will have a different mechanism to shift a pinion if linked to the screen protectors. The patent lets Apple make the protection into wearables, tablets and laptops. Additional patent details indicate that this technology in sensors is going to use Global Positioning System, ultrasonic emitters, acceleration sensors, and a gyroscope.

iPhone 6s Plus and 6s have reportedly brought in huge sales for Apple. However, the following year might witness a whole new situation and a totally redesigned lineup of iPhone hitting the market with the arrival of the sensor technology.
