Joe Russo and Anthony Russo's upcoming Marvel Comics film "Captain America: Civil War" is set to go on with its political reconnaissance, according to Anthony Mackie.
Mackie is set to reprise his role as Sam Wilson, also known as Falcon, in the Russos' forthcoming film. in his interview with Comic Book Resources to promote David Gordon Green's forthcoming comedy drama film "Our Brand Is Crisis," Mackie said that he felt like "Captain America" was all about the ups and downs of the society that people lived in at present.
Mackie added that it was definitely genius on how Marvel Studios could take fictional characters, superheroes at that, and then take the politics of today and wrap them all together and make people believe and buy into it.
According to Cinema Blend, Mackie's statements reflected an overt political leaning to the first Avenger's film. In fact, the publication also mentioned that the Russos' "Captain America: Civil War" was not the only film Marvel Studios had made to reveal modern politics in its Cinematic Universe. The studio had also done the same concept in its "Iron Man" films, as well as in Joss Whedon's "The Avengers."
Falcon is set to be part of Captain America's team, along with Hawkeye, Agent 13, and Ant-Man. They will be against Iron Man's team, which reportedly includes Black Widow, War Machine, The Vision, and Black Panther. Spider-Man is also set to appear in the film; however, no information yet as to which side he is in. Meanwhile, the Wasp's inclusion in the film is yet to be revealed.
