Assumptions about the company circulated around the idea if the company will still develop triple-A titles or go on focus with different fields in the gaming industry by 2015, Express reported.

Despite the rumors, Konami has denied it and was actually reported to be developing on what is to come after the "Phantom Pain."

An unnamed Konami representative stated that "When we start development, a large-scale investment will become necessary."

It may be unreasonable for Konami to leave their gaming formula behind with the success they have harbored with "Metal Gear Solid 5," which have sold over 5 million copies at the moment, another Express report said.

With "Metal Gear's" success, there are though who fear that the next installment will not be as good as its preceding titles without Kojima. Though it is still too early to stay that Kojima will not be involved in the game, but may stay as a consult instead. Whatever the situation, it is a fact that Konami will still have to release an official statement on the development of the upcoming "Metal Gear" successor the moment it begins production.
