Revols, a startup company, is developing a custom wireless earbud that molds to the ear of the user by using gel-filled tips. The design works on the principle that the human ear is unique in shape individually.

Once the earbud is placed in the ear, the owner would click a button Revols' companion app and the tips would harden to follow the shape of the ear of the owner, preventing it from falling due to movement. Businessinsider, which tried the earbuds, reports the indicator that the molding process is done is when the earbuds get a bit warm.

Engadget reports that Revols is about to reach its crowdfunding goal of $100,000 with 59 days to go. For those who would contribute to the crowdfunding, the earbud would cost $179 and $199. When the device is launched, it would sell for $300. The detachable mold could be replaced for $15.

Revols refined and streamlined the long and costly process of making custom earphones by cutting it to only 60 seconds by partnering with Onkyo, a Japanese audio-specialist, for the technology.  Other companies that offer custom earbuds require mapping of the ear through photos or with the assistance of an audiologist.

The Bluetooth 4.1-earbud has an 8-hour playback time. It comes with sports skins for added protection and fit the personality of the user. Daniel Blumer, cofounder of Revols, explains the comfort offered by the earbuds to the lack of pressure points.
