The seventh China U.S. Internet Industry Forum opened in Washington D.C., United States, on Tuesday. More than 150 industry giants, academics and government authorities attended the event to talk about cooperation and measures regarding the two countries' cyber issues.
During a speech at the conference, Cyberspace Administration of China Minister Lu Wei said that the cyber issues between China and the U.S. are now a significant part of the new power partnership model of both countries and will also become a deciding factor in the future of the China-U.S. relations.
Lu told the delegates that they should all see that agreements should be the solution. He also said that they should not only agree on the issues, but also move forward based on their consensus.
Lu mentioned that whatever differences both countries have, these should note be treated as obstacles.
"It is precisely through these differences that we can complement each other and create all kinds of possibilities for cooperation and mutual benefits," said Lu.
China and the United States must collaborate more as both countries share common views and interests on issues regarding the Internet, said U.S. undersecretary of state for economic growth, energy and environment Catherine Novelli.
The UCIIF, which will run for two days, is co-hosted by the Internet Society of China and multinational tech firm Microsoft Corporation.
