Authorities removed three Houston children from their mother who left them in their apartment unit unsupervised. It resulted in the death of J'Zyra Thompson who died of multiple burns.

WFMY News reports that on Monday night, one of the two 3-year-old siblings of J'Zyra placed her inside the oven, while the other turned it on and selected the "hot" temperature. A third sibling, who was 5 years old, was sleeping when the incident happened.

The children's mother, Raquel Thompson, went out with her boyfriend to buy takeout pizza and pick up a prescription. When she arrived home, she was shocked by what she saw. Raquel tried CPR on J'Zyra, but by then, the baby was dead.

Click2Houston reports that J'Zyra kicked the over door when she felt the heat but failed to open it. Raquel's mother has a unit in the same apartment complex.

On Thursday morning, Fredrick Price, the father of the children arrived at the apartment complex on Sterlingshire to look for his children by Raquel, the 3-year olds, only to discover the tragedy that hit the family. He has not heard from his children for month while trying to contact their mother.

ABC reports that Fredrick is not sure if J'Zyra is his child because he never took a paternity test. He allowed the two children to stay with Raquel because he was jobless the past few months.

Eyewitness News cites records it obtained from Child Protective Services that Raquel told investigators she often leaves the children alone at home to drive her boyfriend to work at a pizza place. Because of lack of a suitable relative to take care of the kids now, the three surviving children were placed in a foster care home. Raquel has another older child who lives with the father, and she is also seven months pregnant by her boyfriend.
