Wiz Khalifa's "See You Again" collaborator Charlie Puth and "All About That Bass" hit maker Meghan Trainor made headlines after kissing at the American Music Awards 2015 on Nov. 22, Sunday. The two performed "Marvin Gaye" prior to their now infamous kiss.
Puth grabbed Trainor's butt midway through the kiss. Wearing a painted-on glittery silver sheath dress, the "All About That Bass" singer responded by placing her hands on Puth's jaws.
Luke Bryan won the Favorite Male Country Artist right after Puth and Trainor's kiss. Receiving the award, Bryan said, "I'm still laughing at that Charlie and Meghan getting it on with a little smooch. It kept rolling after the commercial break."
After her performance of "Marvin Gaye" with Puth, Trainor was seen talking to Nick Jonas, Los Angeles Times reported. She and Bryan both lost to One Direction in the Artist of the Year category, which also had Ariana Grande, Maroon 5, Nicki Minaj, Ed Sheeran, Sam Smith, The Weeknd and Taylor Swift as nominees.
In an interview with Billboard, Puth said, "When I wrote 'Marvin Gaye,' my whole intention was to make a record that people would put on a record player, and just instantly make out with each other."
The torrid kiss shared by Puth and Trainor reminded music fans of the controversial kiss Madonna and Britney Spears shared onstage during the 2003 Video Music Awards.
Hosted by "American Idol" season 15 judge Jennifer Lopez, American Music Awards 2015 was held at the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles, California. Among the presenters are Khalifa, "Furious 7" actor Tyrese Gibson, former "American Idol" judge Paula Abdul and some members of Swift's "Bad Blood" squad including Ellie Goulding, Zendaya and Gigi Hadid.
