Samsung believes that the Internet of Things will be a great hit on the next wave of consumer technology and is planning to secure the top spot of the scene.

Boo-Keon Yoon, Samsung's President and CEO revealed in an interview that the Internet of Things (IoT) is likely to change our lives dramatically in the near future.

IoT, for short, is the idea of connecting gadgets and home appliances to the web. The applications to be used with this notion is to be able to control different home appliances like the smart fridge, where people will be able to know which items is about to expire. Also to be able to control your home security system and home lights through the use of smart phones. It will also be helpful to use with cars to alert its owners when something happens.

Smart meters are IoT applications that were already rolled out to several homes across the West. It may have been put to a better use to lessen the power usage; some are thought to have caused privacy issues. Such usage of IoT, each use are stored and documented that alerts people where they are in the house and alert each utilities when they are home. It is also feared that it can be easily hacked as security are not yet being implemented to the proper standards of the IoT devices.

Nevertheless, Samsung's Yoon believes that the "emergence of the IoT era" will change every aspect of our lives to reduce in time, money, and daily resources that we normally use.

As president Yoon stated that the collaboration will be multiplying based on the needs of the consuming public, and the convergence of technologies will increase. Samsung committed to work with other companies to build the IoT technology.

Apple Company is gathering ideas to pursue the Internet of Things platform as well. It has already released the "HomeKit" network protocol for smart home inventions.

According to reports, this agreement was signed and closed for $200 million.
