Electric car manufacturer Tesla revealed that its highly anticipated and long-delayed electric crossover vehicle, the Model X, will sell for quite a hefty price tag; $80,000 for the base model.
The Tesla Model X was unveiled in September and since then has garnered massive attention in the motoring world. The Model X will also feature the Signature Series trim package with a starting price of $132,000. Moreover, the Signature Series trim is reserved for buyers who have put down a deposit.
According to Tech Spot, the Model X will be available in three distinct models; P90D, 90D and 70D. The naming scheme is reminiscent of the one used on the Model S.
The Model X 70D is the entry-level of the bunch. It features a 70kWh battery with an EPA estimated range of 220 miles. It can go from zero to 60mph in six seconds and has a top speed of 140mph.
The Model X 90D has a 90kWh battery with an EPA estimated range of 257 miles on a single full charge. It is quicker compared to the 70D reaching 60mph in 4.8 seconds and boasts a top speed of 155mph. The 90D, with its upgraded battery and added perks, will cost $96,000.
The Model X P90D sports the same 90kWh battery as the 90D although the former has a slightly decreased range at 250 miles. When upgraded with the $10,000 Ludicrous package, the P90D can go from zero to 60mph in 3.2 seconds. When fully upgraded, the Model X P90D will cost $151,450.
All three Model X variants come with the standard Tesla dual-motor all-wheel drive powertrain.
According to Ars Technica, the Model X P90D will ship early in 2016 while the 90D and the 70D will subsequently follow in mid- and late-2016, respectively.
