After much speculation about the show's fate, "Girl Meets World" has been renewed for a third season. The latest spoilers revealed that the next season will focus on the love triangle between Riley (Rowan Blanchard), Lucas (Peyton Meyer) and Maya (Sabrina Carpenter).
According to Carter Matt, the storyline will most likely be about Riley and her friends trying to navigate high school after graduating in the season 2 finale. It was also pointed out that the cast members may finally address what is going to happen in their personal lives/relationships.
Fans of the Disney Channel series are also very interested to know what will happen next to Riley, Lucas and Maya especially after the "Girl Meets Texas" episode.
Speaking to TV Line, Blanchard admitted that the love triangle has been a long time coming. She shared that the viewers must have expected it since the beginning of season 1. She added that it has become "so obvious" that Lucas and Maya had feelings for one another.
Blanchard also said that Riley's decision to put her feelings aside for Lucas for Maya's sake was obviously a façade. She said that her character attempts to shut her feelings for Lucas but its just not working. The actress also praised the writers for creating a "very interesting" take in the love triangle.
Speaking about what to expect in season 3, Blanchard shared that the storyline is about to get even more interesting. She shared that fans will get to see a different side to Riley and Maya.
"Riley and Maya both know that going to high school will take their relationships to a new level, as dating is going to become a real thing, which puts everybody in an awkward position," she shared.
