Bono took to the official website of his band U2 to write a letter to his fans in a post titled "Little Book of a Big Year: Bono's A to Z of 2014," in which he talked about the injuries he suffered after a bike accident in New York in November 2014.

The 54-year-old U2 frontman admitted that "it is not clear" that he will "ever play guitar again" as a result of the accident. Showing an X-ray of his arm, Bono revealed that he now has a titanium elbow.

According to Bono, his U2 bandmates The Edge, Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen Jr. have reminded him that "neither they nor Western civilization are depending on this."

Aside from the possibility of not being able to play the guitar again, Bono also jokingly admitted that he is embarrassed of wearing Lycra cycling shorts.  

As a result of the bike accident, Bono suggested he plans to be out of the public eye for more or less five months until the world tour of his band U2, which will start in May. He explained that the consequences of the accident so significant enough that he will have to "concentrate hard to be ready for the U2 tour in fitness terms."

The U2 band is known for the hit songs "With Or Without You," "Sunday Bloody Sunday," "Ordinary Love," "Every Breaking Wave," "Beautiful Day," "Where The Streets Have No Name," "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" and "City Of Blinding Lights" among others.

Born Paul David Hewson in Dublin, Ireland, Bono is also known as a philanthropist, businessman and venture capitalist aside from being a singer-songwriter. He and his wife Alison share four children Jordan, 25, Memphis Eve, 23, Elijah Bob Patricius Guggi Q, 15, and John Abraham, 13.
