On the sidelines of the two-week Paris climate change conference, Chinese President Xi Jinping and Brazilian counterpart Dilma Rousseff met and vowed to strengthen their ties in a number of areas, including global warming.
Xi remarked that China gives utmost importance to the Sino-Brazilian ties, adding that the country is willing to deepen the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.
Xi also said he is looking forward to foster the two nations' political and strategic mutual trust, and promote communication and partnership in different sectors.
The Chinese leader also encouraged the two parties to expand their industrial investment agreements in the fields of agriculture, energy and resources, and infrastructure and manufacturing.
To provide financial backing to promote China-Brazil trade and investment, Xi emphasized that the countries could make effective use of the BRICS New Development Bank.
Xi also noted that both China and Brazil share a common interest on climate change, suggesting that the governments of the two counties should work closely to help yield a strong and comprehensive outcome from the Paris conference.
For Rousseff's part, she said she agrees with Xi's remarks on China-Brazil ties. She also lauded the progress achieved by the countries' major joint ventures, adding that she hopes to deepen their cooperation on logistics and agriculture.
Rousseff also expressed the full support of her country to China's hosting of the 2016 Group of Twenty (G20) summit.
Commenting on climate change, she said that Brazil and China share the same interest as well as historical circumstances.
