Sylvester Stallone and Fox are currently developing a television series based on the actor's "Rambo" movies.
"The Expendables" star has recently closed a deal with the network to develop an action drama, titled "Rambo: New Blood," that pays homage to the Oscar-nominated actor's original 1982 "First Blood" box office hit.
According to TheWrap, the script deal includes Stallone executively producing the upcoming TV franchise.
"Rambo: New Blood" will focus on exploring the parent-and-child relationship between an aging John Rambo, and his son, ex-Navy SEAL, J.R.
While Stallone has been given the option to reprise his titular role as the PTSD-suffering Vietnam War vet for the TV version, the actor has yet to give his definite answer to play the character.
The 69-year-old Stallone was fresh off his success from the popular Academy Award-nominated "Rocky" films when he took on the Ted Kotcheff-helmed action-adventure "First Blood" over 30 years ago.
Playing a Vietnam War veteran having a difficult time integrating back into society, Stallone's Rambo turns renegade and wreaks havoc on the police authorities in a small town after its abusive sheriff arrests him on vagrancy and other trumped up charges.
"First Blood" is based on Canadian-American author David Morrell's 1972 novel with the same name. It was a box office success when it premiered in theaters, and has since been followed by three other sequels.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the "Rambo: New Blood" series comes just after news emerged Stallone's fifth installment in his "Rambo" franchise, titled "Rambo: Last Blood," was put on hold.
