"Samurai Jack" will be getting a new season on Adult Swim's Toonami for Cartoon Network nest year.
Ten years after the Emmy-winning American animated series, "Samurai Jack" ended in Sept. 2004, Cartoon Network and Adult Swim have announced a fifth season with all-new episodes.
According to TV Line, the upcoming "Samurai Jack" season will air in sometime next year on Toonami, the network's programming block largely dedicated for Japanese animation series.
It further confirmed Genndy Tartakovsky, the series' original creator, will be involved in the series' new season.
Comic Book has said "Samurai Jack" is currently beginning production at Cartoon Network's Los Angeles Studio.
The original series, which initially premiered in Aug. 2001, follows the adventures of a samurai named, Jack, who travels back in time to defeat his nemesis, the demon Aku.
Jack begins his story as a young prince in feudal Japan whose father's empire is decimated by the shape-shifting Aku. Escaping in the nick of time, Jack travels the world, training to avenge his father's death and defeat Aku.
Jack finally duels Aku, but the demon escapes into a magic portal to a future Earth, with the young samurai hard on his heels.
Featuring a cinematic atmosphere and samurai film-inspired battle scenes, "Samurai Jack" received critical acclaim, including four Primetime Emmy Awards and a number of other nominations.
The show ended after a four-year run, but not before having developed a strong fanbase.
Cartoon Network announced the new season of "Samurai Jack" will start airing with brand-new episodes sometime in 2016. It also released a teaser trailer for the upcoming animated show, titled "Jack is Back."
