The ceremony was part of a campaign aimed at encouraging ordinary Chinese families to write, act and shoot short films and plays that bring to life the stories of Chinese families according to their own experiences.

The campaign also hoped to popularize modern approaches to family education, virtues and traditions. It received active responses from women's federations, as well as cultural and educational authorities across the country.

114 screenplays from 25 provinces were submitted to the campaign. After one month of online promotion, the videos garnered around 71 million votes from visitors.

The plays and films showcased a variety of socially relevant themes. Some depicted the challenges faced by children of migrant workers, single parents and prisoners. There were also numerous plays that focused on pre-school safety and good manner for young children.

"During the rehearsals and performances, we got the children to join in and explore the right way to behave," said one parent who performed a short play with her children. "The kids like it and feel ready to accept it."

A total of 30 plays won awards for Outstanding Works and another 20 took home awards for Outstanding Nominations. The awards took into account comments from both expert panelists and online viewers.

The prizes were presented to the winners by Zhao Donghua, vice president and member of the Secretariat of the ACWF.
