Beginning Dec. 29, 2014 up to Jan. 5, 2015, an art exhibition showing a collection of numerous intangible cultural heritage items was in Jianguo Garden Hotel, located at China's capital, Women of China reported.
Fifteen different categories of cultural heritage arts and crafts from the Sichuan Province were put on display for the exhibition. There were umbrellas made from paper, magnificent fabrics of Shu embroidery crafted using soft silk cloth and took days up to weeks of skilled craftsmanship to complete, and several butterfly paintings and graphic arts that depicted China's traditional cultural art or thangka.
There were also many forms of cultural creativeness from different flavors of the region that all had quite an interestingly extensive history.
There are currently 139 items of intangible cultural heritage held at southwest Sichuan and 522 items of arts and crafts at a provincial level. The province also hosts seven demonstration bases dedicated to the protection of items with intangible cultural heritage.
The visitors were shown elegant creations of art handcrafted by the locals of the province who have spent year after year of perfecting their traditional Chinese inherited art, such as wood-carving in bamboos.
The project aims to promote Sichuan traditional arts and China's cultural heritage as well as educate its people about the country's rich cultural history.
Similar exhibitions will also be held around different parts in Beijing in the following months.
