Recent rumors claim that MacBook Air 2016 release will take place at the Worldwide Developers' Conference in June next year. This is fueled by a new discount for the current 13-inch MacBook Air.

While Apple has not confirmed the official MacBook Air 2016, but a retailer offers a generous $450 discount on the 13-inch 2015 MacBook Air. Apple authorized reseller B&H Photo sells the 13-inch MacBook Air (1.70GHz/8GB/512GB) for $1,299 with free shipping and no tax collected for orders shipped outside New York.

One indication that the new MacBook Air 2016 release is coming is the price cuts made on the device. The laptop was released last spring, but it already received a lot of discounts all year round.

However, MacWorld reported that MacBook Air 2016 will not materialize as the product line will be ceased due to the more powerful successor of 12-inch MacBook. The publication predicted that the 12-inch MacBook will most likely have a successor as it will celebrate its first birthday in March next year.

Moreover, with the existence of iPad Pro, it seems that MacBook Air lost its market and making a new one will cannibalize other Apple products. However, nothing is set on stone yet.

MacBook Air and Pro 2016 are rumored to retain the sizes of the original, but will be packed with powerful specs and features, including the latest Intel Skylake processors. The laptops will also run with the latest OS X El Capitan.

However, there is still no word from Apple regarding the details of the two MacBooks.
