CyberConnect2 President Hiroshi Matsuyama stated in an interview that the studio is currently working other projects for both "Naruto" and ".Hack" game series, but if given the time and opportunity they will like to collaborate with Square Enix in working on "Final Fantasy 7" remake for the consoles. This is not the first time CyberConnect2 has worked on a "Final Fantasy" game as they were behind the mobile game, "Final Fantasy VII G-Bike" and during the E3 2015 the studio also expressed their interest in the "Final Fantasy 7" remake.

Aside from the Square Enix partnership with CyberConnect2, "Final Fantasy 7" remake will be an episodic style gameplay as Nomura explained that they are considering the remake for the PlayStation 4 console and he and Kitasde estimated the volume could be beyond what they could fit in one entry. Square Enix added that each entry will have its own unique story and each of them will have colume of the content equal to the full size of the game, Polygon reported.

Kitase added that "Final Fantasy 7" remake will be developed under the Unreal Engine 4 software as Square Enix has also collaborated with Epic Games as well.

The latest "Final Fantasy 7" remake trailer was shown during the PlayStation Experience event last weekend and features a more action-RPG style gameplay than the traditional turned-based gameplay present in the original "FFVII" for the PlayStation console.

The trailer also featured playable characters such as Cloud Strife and Barret Wallace, each having their own skill set. Other rumored features for "Final Fantasy 7" remake include multiplayer gameplay, min-games, a mobile app and a virtual reality gameplay.

"Final Fantasy 7" remake is speculated to launch sometime in 2017 for the PS4 as it marks the 20th Anniversary of the beloved title.
