"We've been pounding at the gym," Shailene Woodley told "Today" about what she had to do to prepare for her upcoming action sci-fi film "Insurgent," the latest installment of the "Divergent" film thriller series.

Based on Veronica Roth's novel, the "Insurgent" screenplay was written by Akiva Goldsman and Brian Duffield. The film was directed by Robert Schwentke, who is known for the films "Flightplan," "The Time Traveler's Wife" and "RED."

Joining Woodley in the "Insurgent" cast are her "Divergent" co-star Theo James and her "The Fault In Our Stars" co-actor Ansel Elgort. Other cast members include Jai Courthey, Miles Teller, Kate Winslet, Naomi Watts , Maggie Q and Suki Waterhouse, among others.

After rising to fame with his roles in "Divergent" and "The Fault In Our Stars" opposite Woodley, Elgort was seen in "Men, Women And Children" where he stars with Adam Sandler and Jennifer Garner.

In 2014, the 21-year-old actor showed off his six-pack abs in a sexy photo shoot for Hero Magazine (Issue 12), in which he said he learned a lot from Sandler who has been successful in both dramas and comedies.

"Good comics always say that to be funny you have to be truthful. Good comedy is about the truth," Elgort told Hero Magazine.

On the other hand, Elgort said "TFIOS" was so much about the characters and the performances that it really was like an acting piece for him and for Woodley, and he could not be happier about being known for the said film.

"Insurgent" will hit theaters in the United States on March 20.
