Despite the widespread speculation that Michael Cavallari, the late brother of "The Hills" star Kristin Cavallari, has committed suicide, circumstantial evidences point out that he most likely died from prolonged exposure to the elements.
The Grand County Sheriff's office told ET that no drugs, weapons or alcohol were found at the scene of Michael's death. Since no suicide note has been recovered yet, the death is not investigated as a suicide.
Since Michael's body was found three miles from his car in the cold weather of Grand County, Utah, it is believed that hypothermia may have been a factor in the 30-year-old's death. Although it is yet unclear how and why Michael ended in the harsh, unforgiving environment, it is widely rumored that he had fled fearing another DUI into the wilderness.
However, the official cause of death is still pending toxicology reports, which are expected to be released in the next 6-8 weeks, E! News reported.
Nighttime temperatures went quite low below freezing around the time the deceased's 2014 Honda Civic was found against a small embankment with the engine running and an airbag deployed the day after Thanksgiving some 200 miles south of Salt Lake City.
Earlier this week, authorities revealed that Michael was arrested in California on the charges of making criminal threats.
Meanwhile, the actress, who is said to have been quite close to her sibling despite his troublesome life, is admittedly heartbroken over the loss of her brother.
"Mikey, I could always count on you to make me laugh. You had such a good heart and will be forever missed," wrote the actress to caption a childhood pic.
