Houston Rockets power forward Terrence Jones has been the subject of many NBA trade rumors for quite some time now and the team may eventually deal him this midseason for the New Orleans Pelican's Ryan Anderson or Phoenix Suns' Markieff Morris.
Basketball Insider's Steve Kyler mentioned Jones as one of 378 NBA players who are trade eligible right now after the trade restriction to newly-signed free agents last summer was lifted on Dec. 15.
Kyler said that "while Ty Lawson's name gets mentioned a lot", the Rockets are not likely to trade the veteran point guard anytime soon. Instead, "it has become clear that the names Houston is shopping include forward Terrence Jones and forward K.J. McDaniels".
CBS Sports' Matt Moore also confirmed the Rockets' plan to trade Jones sometime before the February deadline and that talks with the Suns for Morris is already underway.
Jones is a versatile stretch four that comes gift-wrapped with a bow for teams who want to explore a small ball type of lineup. He can hit from range and has the physical tools to effectively defend the wings against most of the league's premier scorers.
If the 23-year-old gets more playing time and enough touches, which he currently doesn't have in Houston, then the sky is the limit to what this kid can reach.
Actually, the Rockets is said to have been hesitating to trade Jones, but between him and Lawson, the team is favoring the latter as a backup to ease James Harden's playmaking and scoring burdens.
Another potential trade partner emerging for Houston is New Orleans, who reportedly have recently placed power forward Anderson on the trading block, as per NBC Sports.
