SpaceX founder and CTO Elon Musk is planning to build a test track for the Hyperloop Transportation System in Texas.

Musk, who is also the CEO of Tesla Motors, tweeted on Jan. 15, Thursday, his plans for the Hyperloop test track to speed up the development of the super high-speed transportation system concept. The location will "most likely" be in Texas.

The idea for the Hyperloop Transportation System came from Musk and fellow engineers from Tesla and SpaceX. Their collaborative research work was put in a 57-page concept paper.

In an interview with the Texas Tribune at the Texas Transportation Forum, Musk said that they are going to set up a 5-mile Hyperloop test track loop.

In addition, Musk said that the test site will not require any form of incentives from the government and will be privately funded.

The Hyperloop Transportation System, which was pitched by Musk in August 2013, is expected to reach speeds of up to 800 miles per hour, which surpasses the speed of sound, according to CNET. At least $10 billion funding is needed to set up a 400-mile track.

Musk already achieved technological leaps in the past such as making successful Tesla electronic vehicles and producing private spacecraft in his California-based SpaceX company.

Musk formed the Hyperloop Transportation Technologies along with entrepreneurs and scientists, Forbes reported. The team of 100 worked on the design of the near-supersonic tube through the JumpStartFund.

The Hyperloop Transportation System will make it possible for a trip from San Francisco to Los Angeles to take only 30 minutes.
