Beatles songs soared in different streaming services on Christmas Day. The band's chart-topping song "Come Together" zoomed to the top of the list of tunes streamed via the digital music service Spotify.
The streams piled up after the Beatles catalog was made available to streaming services just before Christmas Day.
Other songs by the legendary English rock band known for rewriting the British and United States charts history also ranked high on Spotify's list of most played Beatles tracks, Rolling Stone reported.
The other songs that resonated with listeners in the US, United Kingdom and other parts of the world were "Hey Jude," "Here Comes the Sun," "Let It Be," and "Twist and Shout."
Apart from Spotify, the other streaming services that have made the full remastered Beatles catalogue available include Tidaland, Apple Music, Amazon Prime, and Google Play.
Many Beatles fans expressed their excitement through social media. One fan echoed the sentiments of other Beatles fanatics when he tweeted how he is "loving the release of the Beatles catalog."
Interestingly, a study published in Music Perception: An Interdisciplinary Journal underscored that the value of music in people's day-to-day living depends on their uses for it and the degree to which they engage with it.
Listeners tend to select specific genres of music to obtain different effects within themselves. Certain songs, lead author Adrian North and fellow researchers uncovered, were seen as life-affirming.
North noted how musical preferences are inextricably linked to people's outlook in life.
In the case of the Beatles songs that have attracted a massive fan base, many of them mirror the faded yet intriguing memories of the Beatles members Paul McCartney, John Lennon, George Harrison and Ringo Starr.
