With some dealers selling "Star Wars" memorabilia with fake Mark Hamill signatures, the "Star Wars" actor himself helped fans resolve the issue.
Hamill, who plays Luke Skywalker in the "Star Wars" saga, is lending his hand to avid "Star Wars" fans by verifying his autograph, according to People. The actor has been responding to fans on Twitter asking him to confirm his signature prior to their purchase of "Star Wars" posters and other items he reportedly autographed.
On Dec. 27, Hamill told a "Star Wars" fan on Twitter that his handwriting was often faked. He wrote, "In a word - NO. I'm sorry there's so many fans spending their hard-earned money for fraudulent signatures."
Hamill's remark is not the first time he addressed the issue concerning the fake autographs on "Star Wars" memorabilia that are being sold online. On Dec. 15, Hamill tweeted, "If I could know it's a fan (not a dealer), I'd sign all night. Tired of seeing what I sign on ebay within hours."
Previously, Hamill was usually very generous with "Star Wars" fans, according to Telegraph UK. However, the "Star Wars" actor went to the Dark Side, refusing to sign autographs on his fans' possessions. He reportedly could not determine the prime difference between the avid fans and the dealers.
Meanwhile, Hamill is part of J.J. Abrams' space sci-fi film "Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens," which recently crossed $1 billion international gross. Set 30 years after the events in the "Return of Jedi," the film also stars Carrie Fisher, Harrison Ford, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Adam Driver, Gwendoline Christie, Max von Sydow, Simon Pegg, Oscar Isaac, and Domhnall Gleeson, among others.
Abrams' "Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens" is now showing in theaters.
