When it comes to design, the Mate 8 is unstoppable with its full metal body and rounded edges. A fingerprint scanner can be found on the device, which is on its rear. Color options for the handset are gold, silver, brown and gray.
The Z5 Premium is a smaller device with a metal frame. Its back has a fingerprint magnet which is highly polished glass. It also comes with a fingerprint scanner positioned at the side, and is integrated on the power button. Color options of the device are gold, black and chrome.

The Sony Xperia Z5 Premium is packed with a 5.5-inches IPS LCD display with 2160x3840P resolution and 806PPI density. The Huawei Mate 8 comes with a bigger 6.0-inches LCD display with 1080x1920P resolution and 368PPI density.
- Specs
When it comes to hardware, the Mate 8 is faster with its HiSilicon Kirin chipset with Mali-T880 GPU and octa-core CPU. The Xperia Z5 Premium is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset with Adreno GPU and octa-core CPU.
- Memory
Both smartphones offer memory slots with Mate 8 offering up to 128GB and 3GB or 4GB of RAM. The Xperia Z5 Premium offers 200 GB of external storage with 3GB of RAM on board.
- Camera
Xperia Z5 Premium offers 23MP camera which is better than Mate 8's 16MP camera.
- Price
In terms of cost, the Huawei Mate 8 is cheaper with $643 unlocked, while Xperia Z5 Premium is tagged at $925 unlocked.
