Apple Acquires London-Based Startup Media Analytics Company; Semetric To Help Apple Become ‘Valuable’ Music Partner To Artists, Record Label Companies

Apple is moving into cars.

The London-based media analytics startup company Semetric has been added to the list of Apple's 2015 acquisitions as the Cuppertino-based tech giant bought the said company though Semetric has not commented yet on the said deal, The Guardian reported.

In terms of price, no official information yet was disclosed; however, according to TNW, they have learned that the worth of the deal is less than $100 million.

Semetric, known for its Musicmetric Tool that analyses data about online music, acquisition is said to help in revamping Apple's own iTunes and recently acquired Beats Music though most of their staff will continue to work in London. Semetric is said to have been working not only with music analysis but also with game data analysis, book, TV and movie data analysis.

Reports claims that Semetric's documents filed and registered address in Britain's public regulators has been changed to 100 New Bridge Street, in which, directs to Baker & McKenzie's Law Firm - the same address as what was registered for Apple Europe Ltd. A new director for Semetric was also appointed, Apple's VP of Corporate Law Gene Levoff, The Next Web reported.

Semetric may have not yet commented on all inquiries, Apple confirmed the said deal through Music Ally and Apple even said to The Guardian that "Apple buys smaller technology companies from time to time, and we generally do not discuss our purpose or plan."

Semetric's Musicmetric was launched in 2008, which aims to help music labels and artists to track their social media data, streaming statistics, music sales and music downloads, much like what Next Big Sound does.
