‘The Walking Dead’ Season 6 episode 9 spoilers: Andrew Lincoln teases ‘epic’ midseason premiere, reveals what’s next for Rick and the group

"The Walking Dead" Season 6 returns with episode 9 on Feb. 14, Sunday and the show is expected to feature the aftermath of the massive zombie attack in the town. Amid the chaos, Rick Grimes, the group's leader, will go through a transformation, according to Andrew Lincoln. In a recent interview, the actor revealed details from the upcoming midseason premiere and teased what to expect from the remaining eight episodes.

Episode 9 is titled "No Way Out" and it will see a major change in Rick. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Lincoln said that Rick will undergo one of those "watershed moments" that will lead to a marked change in Rick.

The events of "The Walking Dead" Season 6 midseason premiere will teach something important to Rick. He will learn "something vital about being a leader" resulting in a change in his way of leading the group.

"And he develops a new way of leading. And that could be said for the back 8, in that it turns very dark," Lincoln said. He even talks about Rick and his group adopting and developing a "new world order." In the upcoming segment, Rick will "learn a lot about himself" as the pace of the episode quickens.  

Speaking about the rest of the season, the actor suggest that events unfold in quick succession and this will lead to a "very thrilling finale." According to him, the remaining episodes of "very different" and his favourite.

As for episode 9 of Season 6, the actor states that it is an "absolute mayhem" and it is "going to scare some people." Meanwhile, Lincoln assures that Rick and his group is going to stay in the Alexandria despite zombie infiltration. The actor discloses that a time jump at some point will explain why the group decided to not leave Alexandria. According to the actor, there might not be anything as "environmentally sound" as Alexandria.

"[Showrunner Scott M. Gimple] and the writers have done a very smart thing in that they've thrown a lot of propositions and questions and challenges to Rick and the family and the community, and you will quickly realize they are answered in a very shocking, brilliant, terrifying, epic way. All I will say is this is our Magnificent Seven, this episode," Lincoln added while talking about episode 9.
