Blake Griffin

As the Blake Griffin trade rumors refuse to go silently into the night, another intriguing possibility is explored.

Blake Griffin is currently injured after breaking his hand by punching one of their training staff in the face. It is estimated that he may spend more than the 4 to 6 weeks previously announced as a second procedure has been done to his hand.

The LA Clippers are not in any desperate need to have him back, at least based on their current record. They recently beat the Miami Heat and they have won eight of their last ten games.

Considering the other pressing needs of the team, it may be a good time to consider trading Blake Griffin, wouldn't it?

Speaking of Miami, an idea was floated by Bill Simmons in his podcast. The proposal has Blake Griffin going to the Miami Heat for Chris Bosh and Justise Winslow. Winslow is the Heat's prized steal of this year's draft.

SB Nation writer Jesus Gomez also weighed in on that trade, which Simmons thought was the greatest fake trade and it would also be a "league changer."

For Miami, the rationale that Gomez stated was that "the Heat lack an elite first option, especially as Dwyane Wade continues to age. Griffin would give them that, allowing them to compete right away while also making them younger."

On the other hand, Chris Bosh would fit right in the Clippers system because he can stretch the flood and is already used to playing off the ball since he played with LeBron James and Dwyane Wade.

Gomez said Bosh would be the "perfect complement to Paul and Jordan. He can space the floor, step outside to the perimeter to guard smaller players and play center when Jordan rests. He's older than Griffin, which means the window for contention shrinks, but he could be an upgrade thanks to being a better fit." And they still have Winslow.

Not everyone agreed that it was a good trade, though. Tom Ziller, analyst for SB Nation who objected to the general idea of trading Blake Griffin. For the Bosh trade, he says it is a good idea for this season, although Winslow is still raw.

Looking ahead, it won't be a good idea."Bosh is five years older than Blake and isn't as talented as Griffin at this point. Given the choice, all 30 teams would rather have Griffin than Bosh. Winslow is a nice incentive to roll the dice, but not nice enough to give up the sure thing. And we're just talking about the immediate-term, let alone as Bosh ages while Griffin moves through his expected prime."

This trade is still pure speculation even if it's from a popular sportscaster. Doc Rivers is probably siding with Tom Ziller and keeping Griffin, and somehow he's still keeping the team afloat.
