A high-profile matchup between capital city squad Hertha Berlin SC (10-6-5, 35 points) and last season's runner-up team VfL Wolfsburg (8-7-6, 30 points) is set at the famed Olympic Stadium in Berlin on Feb. 20th, Saturday as the 2015-2016 Bundesliga season moves forward.
Hertha is currently occupying the fourth spot of the league table, but they had been reeling in their past couple of games. The team went winless in four of its last six outings following a three-game winning run.
Their last match was a disappointing 0-2 loss in the hands of middling squad VfB Stuttgart on the road at the Mercedes-Benz Arena last Saturday, as reported by ESPN.
Pál Dárdai's men were unable to pierce the net of Stuttgart's Polish goalkeeper Przemysław Tytoń the whole match as the defense of Die Schwaben has been relentlessly in full throttle as well.
The game was actually tied in the first 51 minutes as both teams could not score any goals until Die Roten midfielder Serey Die netted his first Bundesliga goal. It was followed by a left-footed shot from the center box by Serbian striker Filip Kostic six minutes before full time to complete the hosts' rout.
Meanwhile, Wolfsburg got a little bit of a break after going winless in five of their last six games, pulling off a 2-0 victory over newly-promoted team FC Ingolstadt 04 at their home field of Volkswagen Arena also last Saturday, as per SkySports.
Midfielder Julian Draxler and defender Robin Knoche provided the goals for Dieter Hecking's side at the 29th and 39th minutes to finally snap their seven-game winless slide. Both teams went scoreless in the second half as Die Wölfe was able to hold on to the lead.
Wolfsburg descended down to eight place in the overall standings after being one of the top contenders early in the German top flight's season following their recent debacle of seven games.
However, it would be a challenge to put out consecutive wins for Hecking and his boys as they will face a tough Die Alte Dame squad this weekend.
The predicted result is a close 1-0 victory for Hertha Berlin.
