‘Lego Marvel’s The Avengers’ review: Gamers build a blocky, familiar setting [VIDEO]

Lego Marvel's Avengers is a Lego action-adventure video game developed by TT Games and published by Warner Bros.

Marvel Studios' fans have been waiting for some time for the release of the next title in the series, and finally it is here.

The latest title, "Lego Marvel's The Avengers," requires gamers to go through some Marvel's superhero flips, including both "Captain America" and "Avengers" movies, "Thor: The Dark World" and "Iron Man 3." The presentation is fascinating, with film scenes played out by Lego minifigs and voice clips from the actual films, but there is something beyond that.

The story of the adaptation is straightforward, but there is enough humor for each level. The purpose of the title is still to collect as many Lego pieces as possible, create and solve puzzles, beat bosses, and enjoy playing as a blocky version of your favorite superhero.

The game is somehow glitchy, though, and character's power may not work just effective. However, that is for a reason since as part of a welcome inclusion to the series, "Lego Marvel's The Avengers" introduces team-up combos, whereby two characters close to each other can pull off a fantastic finisher move. For instance, Iron Man blasts his repulsor beams off Captain America's shield, Black Widow and Hawkeye come together and more.

Generally, the game has some shortcomings.

In 2013, "Lego Marvel Super Heroes" came out and gave players essentially everything necessary from a Marvel Lego game. It had many characters, content, and an open setting. The game was also wild, wacky fun.

However, this title following the films' lead appears like it should have come first. Characters such as Spider-Man, the Fantastic Four, and all of the X-Men are lacking in the latest title, but the game is supplemented by great characters such as Ms. Marvel and Lady Thor.

In addition, there are two obscure Guardians of the Galaxy in the game, although the original crew is not available. It is unfortunate that there is already a season pass for the title, with content packs based on "Ant-Man" and the upcoming "Captain America: Civil War."

Besides the odd character inclusions, the game reuses much of the same content from "Lego Marvel Super Heroes.
