The top 24 "American Idol 2016" contestants battled it out in the duets round. They were paired with past winners Ruben Studdard of Season 2, Fantasia Barrino of Season 3, Jordin Sparks of Season 6, David Cook of Season 7, Scotty McCreery of Season 10, Caleb Johnson of Season 13 and Nick Fradiani of Season 14.
Some of the alums who failed to win but had a relatively successful singing career after "American Idol" also participated in the duets round. Among them are Constantine Maroulis, fifth runner-up on Season 4, Chris Daughtry and Kellie Pickler, third runner-up and fifth runner-up on Season 5, respectively, and Lauren Alaina and Haley Reinhart, first runner-up and second runner-up on Season 10, respectively.
Here is how I scored their performances. Each contestant is rated on a scale of 1 to 5 with 5 being the highest with their partner separately scored.
