LG G5 specs and price; LG G5 rivals Samsung Galaxy S7 and iPhone 6S: why did LG bring three cameras on the G5?

Released in 2016, the LG G5 is one of the flagship smartphones of South Korean multinational electronics company LG.

The recently launched LG G5 has come with revolutionary specs like three cameras and a powerful processor to rival the likes of Samsung Galaxy S7 and iPhone 6S.

The most innovative feature that can be found on G5, according to many mobile analysts, is the camera system. The LG G4 has already a fine camera; however, the LG has added something on the devices' "menu." Altogether, the device sports three cameras - an 8 megapixel front-facing camera, a 16 megapixel rear camera with IOS, and an additional 8MP camera that gives a 135-degree field of view.

While rival phone cameras shoot with a 75 degrees field of vision, the LG G5 has a big advantage of capturing ultra-wide shots, slightly more than what we can see with our naked eyes. As Engadget terms it, LG is trying to stick to a shooting experience of the "what you see is what you get" philosophy.

As per the housing, LG G5 features a body entirely made of metal and this has put it on par with its top rivals like Apple and Samsung. LG has been known to bounce back and forth between plastic and premium materials, and apparently, it has finally produced the G5 as the most premium gadget of its own.

Another feature in the G5 that one is likely not to find in a flagship smartphone in 2016 is the expansion slot. The unique element allows users to buy specific module accessories that can transform the phone into "a more usable device."

On its launch, LG highlighted the CAM Plus and the Hi-Fi Plus as two of the modules. The CAM-Plus is a special camera accessory crafted to "deliver a comfortable grip and control of the DSLR." It offers exposure lock, autofocus, and physical buttons for Zoom and Shutter features besides adding 1200 mAh of power to the phone. On the other hand, the Hi-Fi Plus transforms the G5 into a Hi-Fi audio player that supports high-definition audio files.

According to BGR, the device is powered by a Quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, 4GB of RAM and has 32GB of internal storage. For the display, the G5 incorporates a 5.3-inch IPS Quantum display which enables the size of the phone to fit well in the user's hands.

Meanwhile, other features that LG G5 boasts include a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, USB Type C compatibility, NFC, Bluetooth 4.2 and compatibility to companion devices like 360 CAM, the 360 VR, Smart controller and the rolling Bot. LG G5, which is expected to be priced between $600 to $650, also runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow with LG UI.
