"Fifty Shades Freed" recently cast Brant Daugherty to play the role of Luke Sawyer in the "Fifty Shades Darker" sequel.
According to Deadline, the "Pretty Little Liars" alum will join the likes of Kim Basinger as Mrs. Robinson, Eric Johnson as Jack Hyde, Arielle Kebbel as Gia Matteo, Luke Grimes as Elliot Grey, Bella Heathcote as Leila Williams and Rita Ora as Mia Grey in the franchise's third installment.
Daugherty will play the role of Anastasia Steele's (Dakota Johnson) bodyguard who Christian Grey (Jamie Dornan) tasked to watch over his woman.
Following the announcement, Daughtery confirmed the news via his Twitter account. He also took the opportunity to thank his fans and the producers and cast members for their warm welcome.
"Thanks for the warm welcome @E_L_James! I can't say how excited I am to bring Sawyer to life #FiftyShades," he tweeted.
Daugherty also posted the news via his official Instagram account.
"It's official! I'll be joining the cast of #FiftyShadesFreed as Luke Sawyer. Can't wait for you all to see what we have in store..." he wrote alongside a screenshot of book author E.L. James' post.
On her Instagram account, James shared a photo welcoming Daugherty.
"Welcome @brandtdaugherty to #TeamFifty #FiftyShadesFreed #Sawyer," she wrote.
Meanwhile, James recently confirmed that the filming for "Fifty Shades Darker" has already commenced.
On Monday, Feb. 15, James shared a photo of the clicker from the set of the hit movie.
"Day one #FSD Good luck to all the cast and crew," she wrote.
In other news, James Foley was previously confirmed to direct both "Fifty Shades Darker" and "Fifty Shades Freed."
Foley was tapped after "Fifty Shades of Grey" director Sam Taylor-Johnson exited the franchise due to her creative differences with James.
"Fifty Shades Darker" is slated to hit theaters in the U.S. on Feb. 10, 2017. "Fifty Shades Freed" will be released on Feb. 9, 2018.
