The next Intercontinental Championship match at Wrestlemania could feature two former independent stars now taking their act in pro wrestling's no.1 promotion: Kevin Owens and Aj Styles.
Owens, in his second reign as Intercontinental Champion, made an intriguing tweet right after defending his belt against the Showoff Dolph Ziggler in an entertaining contest at Fastlane.
The champ is apparently sending a warning to Styles not to show interest of his Intercontinental gold, if there's any, because he'll make sure he along with his championship dream will get crushed right away.
While Owens might be just messing around with a fellow WWE superstar on social media, there's an argument that he's already planting the seed for a blockbuster confrontation at Wrestlemania 32.
Social media has played a big part for WWE in arranging great match-ups over the last few years, serving as the promotion's extended platform where WWE superstars trade barbs with one another and these feuds often culminate to a date inside the ring.
An Owens vs. Styles showdown at Wrestlemania has all the makings of an instant classic.
According to WhatCulture WWE editor Grahame Herbert, this match-up can live up or even surpass expectations because Owens and Styles are highly-talented wrestlers with raw personalities.
Grahame even predicted it to wind up as one of the best cards, if not the best, at Wrestlemania 32 if they will be given more time to showcase their skills at the greatest wrestling event of the year.
"If given a decent amount of time, Owens and Styles could steal the show at Mania. With twenty minutes they'd almost certainly have the match of the night. However, with Mania always a tight production, and perhaps with backstage politics being a factor, it wouldn't be that surprising if they ended up with less than ten minutes at Mania."
Styles, former TNA world heavyweight champion, made his WWE debut at Royal Rumble and impressed right away with his vast repertoire of moves. He had his first WWE feud against Chris Jericho, whom he fought three times - the last resulted to a win at Fastlane.
20 minutes or less than 10 minutes may it be, there's no reason an Owen vs. Styles match-up not to happen at Wrestlemania 32.
