Vivo recently released this teaser of XPlay 5 on the Chinese social media site Weibo.

While smartphones with 4GB RAM are just common these days, taking the race a little further, Chinese tech manufacturer Vivo announced its upcoming XPlay 5 that will come with 6GB RAM. Scheduled to be launched on March 1, XPlay 5 will boast the highest RAM for any smartphone so far.

Currently, only a small number of high-end smartphones house 4GB RAM, as it was believed that 4GB of RAM would become the standard norm for most handsets in 2016. However, Vivo will be setting a new benchmark in the smartphone industry with its XPlay 5, which will come with PC grade hardware, according to Gizmo China.

In fact, Random Access Memory or RAM is an extremely vital component of a smartphone, and devices that house higher capacity of RAM are generally more efficient. Among other applications, RAM optimizes resource utilization to ensure that the smartphones work smoothly and are not affected by any holdup.

However, Vivo XPlay will not be the only smartphone to boast a 6GB RAM, as another Chinese tech firm LeEco is also rumored to be working on a model with the same memory. Moreover, Samsung too has recently announced that it will go into mass production of 6GB mobile RAM soon.

The teaser revealed that in addition to a 6GB GB LPDDR4 RAM, the upcoming smartphone will also feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 quad-core System-on-Chip (SoC) and will run on Android Marshmallow, GSM Arena reported.

Vivo confirmed earlier that XPlay 5 will feature 6-inch curved QHD displays on both sides rendering 2K display, something akin to what is seen on the devices belonging to Samsung's Edge series. Additionally, the XPlay 5 is expected to come with a unique feature, it will boast solar charging. However, since the manufacturer is yet to confirm this aspect of the upcoming phone, it should be considered to be a speculation.

As far as the other specs of XPlay 5 are concerned, Vivo has teased that the handset will feature a 16-megapixel rear camera, alongside an 8-megapixel snapper on the front for selfies and video chats. The phone will also pack a mammoth 4300mAh battery unit. Considering that the Chinese tech firm has revealed the key features of the device via teasers, it is expected that most of these features will be confirmed before the official release of the phone.
