Color Run In Shangsha

Do you want to be happy? Perhaps you should consider moving to Changsha, the capital of Hunan Province.

Changsha topped the 10 Happiest Provincial Capitals List in 2015, according to the China Economic Life Survey released on Friday by China Central Television (CCTV). But it is not surprising that the city would be number 1 last year because Changsha has been in the top 10 for the past eight years consecutively, noted Changshagov.ph.

It is the 10th year of the survey, which covered 100,000 families in 104 cities across China, since 2006. It measures the overall sense of satisfaction, quality of life, economy and social civilization, sense of belonging and natural environment.

The capital of Hunan became number 1 on the latest survey because the proportion of respondents who felt happy living in Changsha increased by almost 15 percent higher than the national average level. Among the reasons cited by Changsha residents why they are happy living in that city are ecological environment, state of health and marriage relationship.

Even if they are satisfied with their life in the city, Changsha residents still want a higher level of life by 2020 in the areas of guaranteed food safety, favorable ecological environment and well-off-life. For 2016, Changsha Vice Mayor He Jihua said that the city would open a maglev line, another metro line and major urban tracks would be renovated to further make the area a better place to reside, work, visit and do business.

On Thursday, China’s first middle-low speed magnetically levitating rail had a loading test in the city. The test used 1,080 sandbags, each weighing 25 kilograms. The testing mimicked having 363 passengers aboard the coach, reported English.cri.en.

With all five maglev rails already in place in the city and continuously supervised on a 24-hour basis, the test-run is scheduled at the start of March when debugging is completed.

Other cities in the top 10 list after Changsha are Wuhan in Hebei, Hefei in Anhui, Zhengzhou in Henan, Lanzhou in Gansu, Hohhot of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, Shijiazhuang in Hebeim Nanning in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and Nanjing in Jiangsu.

Besides CCTV, the other sponsors of the survey are China Post Group Corporation and the National Bureau of Statistics.
